Module 2 The Process of Discovering Your Purpose What is the process of finding my purpose? Module One—check! What now? I’m ready to execute my life’s purpose. But what if you don’t have a clue what it is? The process of finding and achieving your purpose is twofold: your mental approach and your actions. I used to believe that once I became a Christian, God was in control of everything in my life no matter what I did or didn’t do. While it is true that God is sovereign, it is important to understand that He respects and honors our freewill decisions. Our fulfillment of purpose and the direction of our lives cannot simply rely on Him alone; we must actively participate and make choices. We cannot passively surrender and expect life to unfold effortlessly. Instead, we must engage with intention and determination, taking responsibility for our actions and the paths we choose to embark upon to ultimately fulfill our purpose. We were made for a purpose. Now is the time to find yours. The way we think about finding our purpose can definitely speed up or slow down its acquisition. The biggest mental block is not trusting God—the concern that He might ask you to do something that you won’t like. God is the one that placed those dreams and passions within you. He knows what fulfills you. Get comfortable with the idea that God loves you and only wants the best for you. Know that whatever He asks you to do will eventually be very fulfilling for you. It’s not always easy or fun, but it will be very rewarding. Psalm 57:2 NLT reaffirms this by saying, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” Additionally, recall this verse from Jeremiah. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT True friendship with God is when you truly trust God. When you trust in God, that trust will be greater than your fears. Get into the mindset that God wants to be your friend. Just like any strong relationship, it is based on trust. Think of a pilot flying through the clouds. They cannot trust their own eyes or inner ear to judge their position or direction they are heading. They must rely on their instruments. God is the ultimate vessel to cruise through your life. Trust Him. Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Proverbs: 3:5-6 AMP
