A boy, Eric, is adopted after a couple's only son Alan was killed in a tragic accident. Larry and Barbara wanted to adopt Eric, but not his twin sister. Eric resents having to compete "with a ghost," as the parent expect Eric to be as perfect as they believe Alan was. Eric believes he is a replacement son and feels unloved. Then he meets Darlene who is also adopted. They fall in love and marry only to find great shock and turmoil due to a secret neither suspected. Darlene turns to Christ. Eric turns to alcohol before he accepts Christ as his Savior.

Dr. Dorothy Audrey Simpson is a Christian, an educator, and an author of two historical novels and eight non-fiction books. She is Professor emeritus from New Mexico Highlands University and currently teaches at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
