Excerpt from Chapter 14: God Has NotForgot!
“God has not forgot, God has not forgot! For if He said that He would do it, it will come to pass!!!” Latrice sang this over, and over, and over again on the way home, once we got in the house, and most of the evening as her baby boy returned to singing! The smile on her face all night long looked to be permanent, sort of like the Joker in the movie Batman, but not as scary looking. Seanton had surprised all of us and decided to sing a song for his testimony. As he walked up to the pulpit when it was his turn to testify, I was on the pulpit, heart racing, palms sweating, and praying that he would do a good job. Latrice and Paris were in their usual location in the audience, surely nervous as well, anticipating what Seanton would talk about. He opened with a scripture reading from Hebrews 13: 5-6 which he eloquently read, saying “ Let your conversation be without covetousness; And be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” He then explained that lately he had been going through some things that he thought he would never go through, and that the devil had been attacking him. He then said “I want to sing a song for you right quick” “What? A song?” I said to myself as I could feel and hear myself take a huge swallow, and my heart beating out of my chest. Screams filled the air and faces lit up like a Christmas tree in a dark room with new lights on Christmas Eve after he announced he would actually be “singing” a song. Just like us, many of the congregation at A.T. had missed hearing Seanton’s amazing voice and the shock and surprise they all felt, just like I felt, provided a sense of immediate and overwhelming joy. Seanton then began to sing the song God Has Not Forgot by Tonex, testifying and ministering to those in the audience that even though he had been going through a difficult time, God had not forgotten about him, which tied in to the scripture he had read which expressed how awesome God was because He will never leave us nor forsake us and we have no reason to worry or fear. He effortlessly flowed, hitting high and low notes, and doing runs like only Seanton could do.

About the Author
S.Devon Jorden was born in Detroit Michigan, raised in Los Angeles, California, and currently resides in Conroe, Texas, about 40 miles north of Houston. Though he has been writing the majority of his adult life, his newfound passion and gift for writing was born out of his son’s tragic incident, where he pinned over 400 entries that garnered over 170,000 visits in an on-line journal called Caringbridge. Readers from around the world, from Alaska to Afghanistan, heralded his journals as their daily devotional, and still today follow his writings. Devon has served as a leader in several capacities in his professional career, as well as spiritually, previously serving on the ministerial team at Apostolic Tabernacle in Houston, Texas, overseeing the Sunday School Department as their Sunday School Superintendent and several other ministries. He also was involved in ChampKids, the Sunday School department at Church of Champions in Houston, Texas, overseeing children’s ministries and productions, and is currently part of the leadership team at his current church, BridgeChurch Woodlands. He also serves as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for KHTB Theatrical Productions, Inc., a non-profit 501 (c)3 corporation that creates and directs multi-discipline projects consisting of Performing Arts and Music, with a purpose to use the arts to reveal natural creative skills within each individual facilitating discipline and self-esteem. His most important accomplishment, however, is his devotion and love toward his two children, Paris Jorden, age 25 and Seanton Jorden, age 29, and his beautiful wife of 31 years, Latrice Jorden.
