The Neglected Great Commission

This book describes what evangelism means and then goes on to discuss the Great Commission that Jesus Christ gave to His disciples, to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. It traces a brief history of the commission from the beginning and how it was passed from generation to generation, the time it was affected by heresies, and the time it overcame. The book goes on to identify the essentials of evangelism, showing that an evangelist must have the assurance of conversion, unshakable conviction, conscious reception of the Great Commission, and a Christlike compassionate spirit. The book delves into the Scriptural pattern of evangelism and divides it into two parts, namely Mass Evangelism and Personal Evangelism. It then goes on to reveal the urgent need to reach the young people with the gospel and generally, all people, emphasizing that the harvest is plentiful, the laborers are few, and time is short. The terrible result of failure to reach out with the gospel is depicted by the valley of dry bones which describes the conditions of the Israelites when they committed sins and fell away from God. God brought them back to life when prophet Ezekiel prophesied to them. The book then describes how the Great Commission was neglected by looking into the life of Moses, who was reluctant when God called him to deliver Israelites from the bondage of Egypt. The reasons why the Great Commission has been neglected are discussed, such as the result of ignorance, fear of persecution, because of worldly cares, deceitfulness of riches, exaggerated doctrinal prejudice, lack of compassionate love, and lack of tact. However, the book lifts up the benefits that can be achieved through obedience to the Great Commission. These include resuscitation of churches and communities out of lethargy and spiritual death, promotion of the kingdom of God, transference of people from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Christ, rendering of fruitful service to God, expansion of the church, and provision of power to save, heal, and deliver people. Finally, the book advocates for all believers to rise up and embrace the Great Commission.
