One Sunday, the reverend's sermon was on the consequences of sin. “The devil seeks to use pain and suffering to distort your image of life's purpose. He will try and convince you that you need alcohol or drugs or other mental stimulants like sexual sins to keep you off track. Satan does not want you to know Jesus!"
What was holding Leroy back from giving his heart to Jesus? God showed him what had slowly ruined his life. His downfall? He liked to drink. God dealt with his heart and led him to realize just how destructive and potent life could be when alcohol was at the center. He had been a drunk living with another drunk, like a firecracker ready to ignite and sitting beside a red-hot poker. An ongoing alcoholic lifestyle had clouded his mind, making him unable to make important decisions.
Leroy thought of the preacher’s words. Debauchery. God was telling him what would happen if he didn’t take a stand and change the course of his life.
The preacher ended his sermon by saying, “God sometimes plucks people out of their sinful ways to bring them to attention. God does not make your decisions for you, but He will lead you. It’s your decision what you choose to do.”

Rebecca reveals her own struggles with wavering commitment to God since childhood, and how her rebellion resulted in three broken marriages. Her chronicle continues as she shares Rebecca and Leroy’s love story where they met in church and formed a quick bond that further cemented their love for God and for each other. These stories of faith allow readers to relate to instances with their own struggles and shortfalls and how God extends grace and forgiveness to those who have a willing heart.
About the Author
Rebecca Smith Davis writes inspiring stories about real people and their faith in God. Her first book, titled Blessed, portrays a loving true story about her husband, Leroy Davis, and his encounter with an angel while in a coma fighting for his life.
Rebecca and Leroy have been married for 16 years and have a blended family of five children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
When she’s not writing, she lives a quiet retired life with her husband, Leroy, their cat, Nanny, and their rat terrier, Jack. She and her husband currently reside in Kodak, Tennessee, where they enjoy the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.
Rebecca has future plans to release new books for her Tell Your Story series and is currently working on a devotional about journeys of faith for everyday life.
