Recycle
I was putting a cup in the recycle bin today and I thought about how that whole concept works. We are taking something old and changing it into something new. We are trying to prevent waste of potentially useful materials. I think about life and how it is like that. When you go through a trial such as a divorce, loss of a job, or the loss of a loved one, etc. You can lose hope and trust. You tend to lose your peace and feel like you are done. You may feel as though nothing new or good can come of where you have been or where you are going. Several weeks ago, I heard a Pastor say, "Feelings aren't truth", and that has stuck with me. Thank God that although there are times, I feel useless or worn down and ragged, that is not the truth. In Ephesians 2 it says I am God's masterpiece. A masterpiece is a work of art, the best piece. I have a choice. I can choose to believe the good and that I'm a work of art, or the bad and that I'm just waste. I must make a choice despite my emotions/feelings. John 15:12-13, says, "Love one another, as I have loved you. No one has Greater LOVE, than to lay down his own life for his friends." I believe that includes learning to love ourselves. God thought we were pretty special, in spite of our flaws and mistakes. I know that pain and suffering cannot be denied. However, it can be replaced/changed to something new. You can recycle those feelings of hurt, anger, fear, and depression, into better things. Allow God to heal your broken pieces and restore them with a new Hope, and Love and Trust. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed and the new has come." Choose to recycle and make something new of the struggle in your life, and your feelings will eventually line up with that choice. Isaiah 43:19 says, “See, I am doing a New thing! Do you not know it? I AM making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." We have to make a choice to recycle and have FAITH....being sure of what we Hope for and certain of what we yet, do not see.

About the Author
Lisa Revels O’Neal is a Native American woman whose natural gift is encouraging others. She’s been a speaker at many Christian women’s conferences and small groups, an early childhood educator for nearly twenty years, a former 911 dispatcher, the self-proclaimed baker of the family, and a mother and grandmother.
