JONAH Jonah, God’s prophet, was instructed by Him, “Go down to Nineveh, an assignment to begin.” Now Jonah hated these people and did not believe They were worthy of God’s mercy and grace to receive. So Jonah went in the opposite direction, Hoping to hide from God’s objection! He went down to Joppa, and boarded a ship. He soon found out God was also on this trip! The Lord caused a turbulent wind to toss the ship around. Everyone thought they were going to be drowned. The crew blamed Jonah; they knew his God was great. So they threw him overboard, hoping to change their fate! God caused a great fish to swallow Jonah then, And for three days and nights he prayed to Him. Repenting of his sin, to the Lord he did beseech. And God caused the fish to throw him up on the beach! Jonah then went to Nineveh and preached God’s message to all, They believed what they heard and the king made a call That everyone should now turn from their violence and sin. And God relented from His planned disaster on them.

About the Book
The author’s inspiration to write this book came when she was encouraged by a friend to join a poetry class at the local library two years ago. She soon discovered she had a talent for writing poems and within that year received two collaboration awards. One award was third place and another first place, both for writing a poem about an artist’s painting. A third collaboration first place award a year later was when an artist chose one of her poems to do a painting depicting her poem. The final and major inspiration came when she read a book sent to her by Dr. David Jeremiah’s turning point ministry entitled “The Jesus Code” and subtitled “Finding Jesus in Every Book in the Bible” written by O.S. Hawkins. She also feels as the psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:127 NIV “ Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold”. The author’s purpose in writing this book is to instill in the reader a further interest in the word of God and curiosity to discover for themselves the Truths found there. The condensed versions in poetry are to enlighten and encourage her audience to go back to scripture and learn these truths for themselves.
About the Author
Carol Avery, after becoming a Christian in her early twenties, moved to a small town in the Mohave Desert with her husband and two small children. She attended a church there and was led into an organization called CEF ‘Child Evangelism Fellowship’, where she received her major bible education as she taught school age boys and girls the wonderful stories throughout the Old and New Testaments. She has continued this periodically through her early seventies. She now helps lead the Women’s Bible Study in her Calvary Chapel church in Yuma, Arizona. She has five adult children and enjoys time spent with them along with fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
