Janice Gravely’s eyes focused intently on her TV set. She watched
as the entire Bible was read on the steps of the US Capitol in
Washington, DC a day before the National Day of Prayer.
She watched with fascination as she heard that every word of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation was read aloud in four days. People came from all over the United States to participate in this event in Washington, DC. They read through the Bible day and night on the west terrace of the Capitol steps.
We could do that in Rocky Mount, she thought. Why not? Janice had lived in Rocky Mount for all of her adult life. No matter that she was 90 years old. She prayed, Lord, do you want Rocky Mount to do this? Do you want me to spearhead this project? The Lord gave her an emphatic “YES! and she began to ask Him how to make it happen.

Robin Bourne Mowbray is a 1975 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Journalism. She has hosted “Carolina Global Revival”, a local cable TV program, since April, 2016. She is the author of the book Looking Around the Teenage Set and countless newspaper articles. Married to Tom for over 40 years, she is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She and Tom live in Rocky Mount, NC.
