When we have a relationship with the Father through the Son, we see and hear and can understand with greater clarity and depth. But we must trust God to provide that understanding. With God, all things become clear. e confusion goes away, and surety takes its place. e Holy Spirit brings this ability to each child of God when the relationship begins. John 14:26 says, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Many do not take advantage of it fully because they want to stay carnal instead. e last of the three things required to receive this blessing is to “keep,” “to guard from loss or injury by keeping the eye upon.” In John 14:23, we hear Jesus saying, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” e same Greek word is used here as in Revelation 1:3 for “keep.” And it’s the same word used in Matthew 19:17 when Jesus says, “Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” is is not just something you do religiously but is more taken on as a lifestyle. His commandments become your way of life. A Christian will have that same imprint from God, the Father, and you don’t even have to ask if they are a Christian. is is because you see the imprint of the heavenly Father in everything they say and do. So when he says “and keep those things which are written therein:” (Revelation 1:3), I believe he is talking about much more than putting something in a safe place.
