A Night to Remember
It was a night to remember so long ago.
It seemed just like yesterday; I can still feel the glow.
The socks they were hung near the fire with care,
All was quiet, all was fair.
Mama knitting sweaters, my scroll in my lap,
keeping warm from the cold winter’s draft.
Our children were cuddled asleep in their beds,
While dreams from God danced in their heads.
The fields beside me were filled with loud chatter,
I jumped to the floor to see what was the matter.
I ran to my window and pulled back the shutters,
Seeing the shepherds, it made my heart wonder.
The moon in the sky gave a wonderful glow
The shepherds like shadows were moving quite slow.
For up in the sky of the moon’s glowing light
The angels were praising with all of their might.
Unable to move, till the sight slowly passed,
not wanting to miss this, moving now fast.
I gathered my children and wife to my side,
Telling of God’s Glory, I had just seen outside.
My heart how it melted as I looked to the sky,
For God was now speaking to all of mankind.
We walked in the darkness forgetting the cold,
We followed the shepherds as the angels had told.
