“Hurry up, Mack! We don’t want to be late,” said Middy.
“OK, I’m ready to go,” said her younger brother Mack as he followed behind her.
Middy and Mack stomped down the front porch steps.
Thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump went their feet.
As the sun set, they headed to the flowering fields by the Big Rock Spot to catch fireflies.
“I have my almighty adventure belt with my almighty fishing net and almighty flashlight,” said Middy.
Click, click, click went the flashlight.
“And I have the jar to put the fireflies in,” said Mack.
“We only see fireflies for a short time, so I hope we catch a lot of them,” said Middy.
“Hey-O!” said Mack in agreement.
“And did you know that they’re not really bugs? They’re beetles,” said Middy.
“Yay! We’re catching beetles that light up,” said Mack.
