Honestly, I never knew what to expect when I took a flight from Birmingham, Alabama to New York City; then to Amsterdam, and on to Kano, Nigeria. I never knew the the sheer multitude of opportunities God would give me over the many years to follow; opportunities to serve Him in three schools, to disciple hundreds of students and dozens of teachers, to train churches and preachers and teachers in telling the stories of Jesus, to teach English and Bible and drama and writing; to work side-by-side and heart-to-heart alongside Nigerians, Nigeriens, Cameroonians, Congolese, Canadians, British, Swiss, French, Germans, Brazilians, Koreans and Americans, in serving our Lord and declaring His Gospel for all, particularly in Nigeria and Niger, to be discipled and taught the ways of our Lord by His men and His women from all over the world; to meet and to love and to marry my beautiful wife, and to parent together our wonderful children.
I never knew the challenges we would face and the miracles we would experience as He faithfully led us through storms and trials and riots and illnesses and floods. I never knew how intricately he unites His people in the midst of such trials, and how successfully He brings His people together to work until His victory comes. I never knew how beautifully the name of Jesus would light up the thousands of faces I would encounter over all these years. I never knew that although I had so little to offer, really; he had immeasurable riches to place in my hands as His means for reaching His world for Himself and His glorious kingdom. I never knew anything but very little of the richness of walking with Jesus day-by-day as His Holy Spirit leads. I never knew how quickly time would fly across the years, so that as I now sit down to write my testimonies to His faithfulness, I am truly amazed. I never knew how I would feel now as I think back over all these years and all His blessings, that I would know a tiny bit of how overwhelmed with awe the Apostle John felt toward the end of his Gospel, as he said that all the books in all the world could not contain all the stories of the remarkable things Jesus did, does now and will forever do—always for His wondrous glory and our own blessed joy.

About the Author
Mike Stonecypher, a native of Alabama, became a believer as a young boy. He benefitted from the godly influence of many dedicated Christian teachers and leaders. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and an Education Specialist degree and was appointed by the International Mission Board to Nigeria. Later he married Becky, his wife, and they served together in Nigeria and Niger for thirty-seven years.
