I was eighteen when I first went to the hospital. It was summertime, and I was singing in the chorus of “West Side Story”. This was a paid position, and I was terminated because of my strange behavior. My family decided to take me to Detroit for a psychiatric evaluation. At that time, I was acting erratic and out of character. I was informed I had a simple chemical imbalance. This was my first diagnosis. When someone enters a psychiatric ward, it is both a demanding and difficult task to disconnect from the stigma that is attached to you.

About the Book
This book is framed within a popular Biblical parable of the 10 sleeping bridesmaids and the “woke” culture. The author tells stories of her life with elements involving faith, mental health, and racism in society and the church. The title suggests, we are all sleeping like the 10 bridesmaids. We need to be both awakened and prepared for the Great Day of the coming Messiah.
About the Author
Regina Ruth Riley is an alumni of Calvin University and Calvin Theological Seminary. She enjoys serving in educational ministries and the schools in her community.
