Finding My Way Home

Suddenly I knew what had happened. For a few seconds, I experienced Jesus' love—live and in person—as I like to say. I knew without a doubt God was with me. I believe with all that is in me that voice I heard was one of His angels sent to me with a message from Him. In the blink of an eye, I experienced this brief but boundless glimpse of God's grace, hope, and love. It was simply—indescribable. How great is God's love? I felt it. To my core, I felt it. I can't fully describe it. There are no words to do it justice. It was AMAZING in the truest sense of the word. I had been in His presence in a way I had never experienced. And if that is what it feels like to be in God's presence for a glimpse, I can only imagine what it will feel like when I am fully in His presence one day. When we are home with Him, experiencing the depth of His love for us. Here is the thing, though, God is always with us. Whether or not we can audibly hear Him, He is there. He is by our side at all times. We are never, ever alone. God's love is so great that it sustained me over the next two and a half years of my illness. At my weakest, I called out to Him, inviting Him in without hesitation or walls up, surrendering control. I knew God; I believed in Him but never before had I experienced the extent and magnitude of God's love and grace for me as I just had. What I received would carry me through the longest and most painful time of my life. When I wanted to fall asleep and shut the world out, thinking that I could not continue in this battle, I would remember what happened. The moment when God became so real to me, I felt as though I could reach out and touch Him. I knew I was not alone. I knew He would see me through. I knew I was safe in His care. My life was forever changed that day. I carry it with me. The love and peace that continued to sustain and carry me was a precious gift.
