Throughout our lives there are the good times and well, not so good times. There are times, I am sure that all of us have felt that we are at the end of our rope, whether you believe it or not, but remember that is when we think we need to stop and re-evaluate. Stop being focused on our own pity party and lean more of the meaning of life and focus on God and recognize the blessings that are all around us on a daily basis. Seek a better understanding of you creator (GOD). Find that someone who will help you work through the situation at hand. That individual must be a student of the Bible in order to properly guide you in a manner that will help you become familiar with how God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit want you to know them completely. If you do this “search” you will be blessed more than we will ever know. God is not to be feared He loves us all and is patient in waiting for us to return to Him. THIS MUST BE A LIFE-LONG FRIENDSHIP. SOMEONE WHO YOU TRUST INPLICTELY.
From a personal perspective, a blessing comes when you lose someone or something that is most dear to you. This book is about some of those instances that I have first-hand experienced and wondered where in the world am I going to find the strength to go on? I cried and cried some more. I screamed out of frustration. The world did not provide any answers. No matter how hard I would search. Out of complete exasperation did I turn to God and He reached out to me and in my sorrows and did I feel the embrace of God? You bet I did; and so, can you. Secure your heart (as I did mine), to the reputation of Christ.
Your moods will come and go.
Your world will change.
But you will not be left alone.
You will discover a contentment the world does not understand.
Christ in our life brings peace and strengthens us.
Since no one can take Christ from us, no one can steal our joy.
Enclosed in the ensuing chapters of this book (I pray) you will understand that as we go through life with its lows and highs, that through it all God is there with us. It took a period of time for me to realize that God was to be praised through “it all” - the good as well as the bad. This is not what the world today will teach you. The questions like: “where is your God when you need Him most.” Or: “How come ‘your God’ allowed that to happen.” It is in times like this when I must stop listening to what the world around me is saying and look around at how God has “blessed” me and count those blessings, I mean really count them. That was when I became the proud owner of the things that can’t be bought.
This book is all about getting to know God and being able to recognize that God will (and is) walking with us each and every day. God is omni-present.
I needed an appetite for God. [We all need an appetite for God.] I mean for as much as I have looked forward Thanksgiving with all the “fix’ns.” I mean a mouth -watering - can’t wait for the meal. Until that type of hunger grew within my soul for God, I never knew that God was always by my side. Let God know your hurts, He sees them anyway. I mean verbalize what hurts. Those down deep hurts, those down within the darkest part of your soul. Once I did this exercise several times over, crying out to God for help to show me the “real world” around me. The devil is wanting to destroy and conquer your world. Be strong in the Word. Let go of your selfish ways and reach out to the only One who truly has you best interests – God.
The hurts of life will begin to be healed. They will never go away, but I assure you that they will be healed. As I rolled up my sleeves and focused on God totally, was I ready for the Lord to use me to His Glory. It cost God the life of His Son on the cross to die for our transgressions. I also must remember the resurrection and the promise of the empty tomb. Christ’s death and resurrection are no afterthought, as the enemy wants you and I to believe. Jesus holds the future to life for all of us.
The only way that I could spread God’s love was by first to clean-up my life. Get my house in order and do the most difficult of actions – W A I T! what do you mean Lord, wait? As I prayed, I went to the Word to Isaiah: 40:31-
“But those who wait upon the Lord Shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not be faint.” (NKJ)
The Word brought a new life in me. I had to prepare myself, body, mind, soul and strength. As I went through all this, the heart-wrenching hurts of life so can you. Sometime the easiest of actions on our part become so difficult to accomplish. This is what myself, my wife and family went through. May you not only be blessed as you read through the book, but also challenged to move forward to do all that God has prepared for you. Yes! God has a plan for all of us. Believe it or not – it is true.
