Once upon a time, long, long ago in a land far away, there lived a wise old king who was very, very good and who loved all the people of his land very much. His name was the good King Cater because he always took care of his people and provided everything that they needed to live.
King Cater ruled over the land of Delight. It was a land of strong, tall trees, soft, green grass and beautiful flowers. He had many people under his rule and he enjoyed their company more than anything. Together they walked through the beautiful flowers, rested in the shade of the strong, tall trees and wiggled their toes in the soft, green grass. He gave them all the fresh fruits and vegetables they could ever want to eat, and as long as they ate what the good king provided, and nothing else, they stayed healthy and happy.
“Enjoy your vegetables,” King Cater told them, “but leave burgers and fries alone,” he warned, “those things will make you sick.”
Truly there was never a place so happy as the land of Delight or a king so kind as Cater. It seemed to the people that each day was more fun than the last. It was a wonderful place to live.

About the Book
The Long Ago Kingdom of Burgers and Fries tells the story of King Cater, his son Cure and his grandson Comfort who rule over the land of Delight. All is well until the day Mortimer from the land of Deceit opens up his burger stand right in the middle of town. Soon all the people are in a very bad way and the King and his family will have to deal with it if the land is to be saved.
About the Author
Roger Haygood was born in Arkansas in 1956 and educated for ministry in Arkansas, Texas, Indiana and Missouri while serving as a pastor in several small churches. He first wrote this story for his own children to help introduce them to the message of the Bible. Now it is his desire to share it with a wider audience. This is his first opportunity to publish it in book form.
