One night as Clementine knelt in prayer she heard the name “Mephibosheth.” She paused to listen for any additional word that might have been spoken further, none came forth. She was silenced , unable to proceed with the prayer. She rose from kneeling position, took her bible and searched for the name in the concordance section then searched the scriptures . This was possibly her first time hearing that name. She read the Scripture from 2nd Samuel 9: verse 6- 13 but did not understand it’s application and purpose. Migration would later provide some answers for the struggles and reasons for the path that her life had taken. That’s when she fully understood who Mephibosheth was and how his life in Lodebar was connected to her circumstances. She began to examine his life to understand how it was applicable to hers. She realised that she had lived in Lodebar for a long time when she fully grasp it’s meaning. The bits and pieces of puzzles began to unravel. She gained an understanding that the struggles that she had was deeply rooted in her early childhood including the alias name given to her at birth. God saw that she was undeserving of the treatment meted out to her and took her out of the situation so His will could be realised and His purpose for her life to become a reality. This was also where she begin to understand the scripture when it states in Mark chapter 6 verse 4-6 : But Jesus said unto them , “A Prophet is not without honour but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”(5) And He could there do no mighty work save that He laid His hands upon a few sick folks and healed them. (6 ): And He marvelled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages teaching.” Jesus came into this world unspotted , untarnished, free from sin and perfect in all His ways. He was God in Spirit and fully man in the flesh, His existence was two fold .The people rejected His teachings because of the humble beginnings, He entered Jerusalem on an asses colt, not a horse drawn carriage decked with scarlet and purple, there was no physical manifestation of His royalty; where He came from, who He came through, His lineage. His mother was a humble Jewish girl espoused to Joseph , a carpenter. Rahab the harlot was a part of Jesus’ lineage because of the connection with the descendant of Christ ; her husband Salmon whose son was Boaz and Ruth’s, David’s great grandmother. 1stChronicles 2-10-11 ; Ruth 4:20-21, Matthew 1:4-5; Luke 3:32. These are scriptures to provide insight into the lives of these individuals and how they are connected to Christ. She took care of God’s children when they went to spy out the promised land noted in Joshua 2 verses 1-24. They saw Him as the Carpenter’s son from Nazareth. Philip one of Jesus’ disciples who had his encounter with Christ went and called Nathanael informing him that they had found the Messiah, Nathanael responded : as stated in John chapter 1 and verse 46: “And Nathaniel said unto him, “can there any good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said unto him; “Come and see .”. Nazareth meant to be separated , crowned and sanctified . This was a place where Jesus’ ministry was in effect. Nathanael was looking at the city of Nazareth as a place where there couldn’t be anything good coming out of it let alone the Messiah !!!! In verse 47: Nathanael was only convinced that Jesus was indeed the Messiah when Jesus identified him. As stated in verse 47 : “ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and saith of him, “ Behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile. “ Nathanael was shocked to know that Jesus could identify him before He met him in person. In verse 48 : Nathaniel questioned Jesus. As stated, 48: Nathanael saith unto Him “Whence knowest Thou me ? “Jesus answered and said unto Him , “before that Philip called thee when thou wast under the fig tree I saw thee.” Only then that Nathanael acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God. How is this passage of scripture applicable to Clementine’s life ? what light does it shed on her situation ? This is obviously dealing with Jesus the Messiah fully God, fully man in the flesh but where does she fit in ? Clementine is saying this to say that, if Jesus who is God was rejected by His very own, they did not acknowledge Him as their saviour, nor believed in His teachings; He came from a very humble beginning a result of which they rejected Him as King, not discerning His Sovereignity . If the Messiah the one who came to redeem us from the curse of sin and death, the curse of the law. Who is she that anyone would give recognition to her ? so messed up, imperfect, a reject in society, nothing, bruised and battered. Who was she then and even now , why should anyone give her special recognition , see her as a person of worth? She does not view herself to be any comparison to Jesus Christ under any circumstances. If they rejected Him who was the Messiah, the one who gave His life for us why would anyone see her as important? However ; Clementine boldly declared that this same Jesus took the battered beaten up bruised piece of clay, who once had no worth nor value and began a process of reconditioning , restructuring, restoring and transforming it into a life of beauty .This was where she began to realise and to understand Mephibosheth’s life and it’s application to hers. He was crippled from the age of five years when he fell from his nurse’s arms who was running away to a place of safety; having learnt of the death of his father Jonathan and his grandfather Saul during the war with the Philistines. It’s all detailed in 2nd Samuel 1 and 2nd Samuel 4 and verse 4. Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet since the age of five and was taken to a place where there was no communication from anywhere, a place where the nurse felt that he would be safe from harm. Clementine researched the meaning of Lodebar and understood it’s application to her situation. She realised that she had been in a place of nothingness, where there was no communication with reality but God was always there even when she didn’t know Him in person . She was cut off from resources and blessings.
