"Psalm 96:1 is a companion verse to Jeremiah 20:13. "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth." I'm pretty sure that these verses inspired one of my favorite hymns: "Earth & All Stars," written by Herb Brokering. You can find it in the Lutheran Service Book, #817. (You have my permission to take a break & either sing it from memory or directly from the hymnal. It's in "Lutheran Worship," too.) Excuse me while I take my own advice . . .

About the Author
Paul Leckband writes for Orphan Grain Train, a worldwide relief agency with headquarters in Norfolk, NE. He served for over 40 years in Lutheran secondary schools, where he taught English & theology courses & served as an administrator. He has a Masters in secondary education from Concordia University Nebraska. He is married to Lois, who also taught in Lutheran schools, & they make their home in Norfolk, Nebraska. They have three children & five grandchildren.
