Why do we want others to go to hell? When is the last time you brought someone to the Lord? When was the last time you tried? Please understand as a child of God, Jesus did not save us just to sit back and do nothing. The moment you accepted Jesus Christ and surrendered your life to Him is the moment you were given a great privilege which is to behave like Jesus Christ. As children of God we are to continue to grow our Christ-like behavior as we walk with Jesus Christ. We grow our Christ-like behavior by growing the Christ-like characteristics that Peter discusses in 2 Peter 1:5-7. These characteristics help us to grow as individuals as we follow Jesus Christ. These characteristics also aid us to go about doing the work that Christ has given us to do once we got saved. Jesus has commissioned His children to continue His work of being fishers of men and making other become fishers of men. As we grow those Christ-like characteristics through the teaching and help of the Holy Spirit, He guides us and shows us how to behave as fishers of men.

It takes a look at some of the teachings that Jesus taught His disciples about becoming fishers of men. Is a person a fisherman if, year after year, he never catches a fish? Is one behaving as a follower of Jesus Christ if they aren’t fishing?
About the Author
Dr. Christopher Powers has served as a pastor in NE Arkansas churches for 16 years and has been in the Gospel Ministry for 30 years. He is a graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, GA, holding a Doctor of Theology and a Master of Divinity degrees. He and His wife, Teresa have been married twenty-one years and have one daughter Darcie.
