Will You Still Love Me?
A new adventure is waiting each day,
new places to explore, and new things to play.
I may dump all my food onto the floor,
or even hurl it at the door,
to hear its splats, or plops, or pings!
I am learning about gravity and flying things!
I do not want to cause you distress.
Will you still love me when I make a mess?
My world is so big; there is so much to explore.
Please come and join me down here on the floor.
There are many textures to touch, sounds to hear, colors to view,
flavors to taste, scents to smell, especially of you.
You smell so good, and you are soft to touch.
When I’m in your arms, I love you so much.
I feel secure and safe in your warm caress;
but I wonder, will you still love me when I make a mess?
Please try not to squelch all my How comes? and Whys?;
when I have asked enough questions to reach up to the skies.
Be patient with my curiosity,
because our God has built that into me.
He wants me to learn and discover the truth:
about Him, about me, and about my loose tooth.
Discipline me when I'm willful; I will not love you less.
But, please, continue to love me when I make a mess.

About the Book
Looking for something that will put a smile on your face, make you laugh from deep within, or lift your spirit? The Wonder of It All will do just that! It is a book of poems written by Valerie J. Borgal, beautifully combined with illustrated artwork. Her poems are fun, whimsical, and will make you laugh out loud; some are somber, some will make you think a little deeper, but all will challenge your daily walk with God and others. These poems are creatively portrayed in watercolor and pen and ink, or a combination of both, as well as graphite and scratchboard, to bring a visual complement to each subject.
About the Author
Valerie J. Borgal is an artist/poet creating art since childhood and writing poetry during her adult life. She has been an elementary and kindergarten teacher, art teacher, and Bible study leader. Her passion is to write about everyday events, spiritual thoughts, adventures, and episodes with people and critters in her life. During her 14 years teaching at Fellowship Christian Academy in Methuen, MA, she would write poems for her students on their birthdays, sometimes using their names to make an acrostic, and including a small original watercolor.
Valerie graduated from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts – School of Art and Design in the spring of 1967. She married Thomas Borgal in the fall of that year and now resides in Tewksbury, MA.
Val and Tom have two sons, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
