“Her breasts are bruised and infected. We need to remove them or she could die.” The doctor stated clearly.
“Then do it.” The voice demanded.
“We have to have her consent.” The doctor reiterated.
“You have mine. That is enough.” He growled. Where had she heard that voice? Lizzi mused at the dialogue in her dream.
“This time, it is not. It is her body and she will have to choose. I will make it clear to her, don’t ….” The doctor must have been walking off, his voice fading, and she didn’t hear the last of his comments. Sleep claimed her again.

At work the next day, Henry and another guard showed up and took her to the police station. “You have not yet signed the book. Are you a good Hungarian or not?” growled the guard, hard eyes boring into Lizzi.
“I am a good Hungarian, but will not sign your book.” Lizzi shot back. “You like my wine well enough!” Henry caught the guard’s arm as he swung at Lizzi.
“You won’t change her mind. Where will we go for such good wine if you arrest her now? No one knows where she hides it.” Henry whispered to his comrade.
“URG!” growled the guard. “Doesn’t matter. Your husband has signed. He will tell us if you question him or do anything against the government. He was in earlier today. He didn’t like being under suspicion yesterday.” His sneer sent an icy shiver down her spine, and a doubt flickered through her mind, but didn’t register on her face.

She shares a special relationship with her mother, Elizabeth, who guided her as a child to love the Bible and embrace God’s love. After watching her family experience the emotional devastation caused by war, politics, and inhumanity, Elona turned to books and writing for comfort.
