True Success Comes from Hearing and Obeying God
God can keep you through times of difficulty when you pray, including times when you are tempted and you think you don’t want to be kept. That’s one reason why it’s good to have a consistent prayer life by praying in your native language and praying in the Spirit— in the tongues of the Holy Spirit, which is a heavenly language given to us by the Holy Spirit of God (Acts 2:1–4 ESV). You might not understand what you’re saying, or why you’re praying that way, but God knows what temptations and strategies of the enemy are coming. He wants you to be armored up and fully surrendered to Him so you don’t fall/fail. Even though having other people pray for you is a good thing, it’s vital for you to have your own prayer life where you can hear God’s voice. He will teach you how to hear what He’s saying and to know the difference between His voice, your own inner voice, other people’s desires for you, and the enemy’s voice. This is vital for you to know! It can save someone’s life, including your own! Listening to God’s voice is encountering God Himself! As you listen to and encounter God, as well as obey what He tells you to do, you will experience the peace of His presence, find your safe place in Him, and receive the healing you need in your soul (mind, will, and emotions), body, relationships, and more. Did you know God will even lead you in the right direction with His peace? The Word of God tells us this in Isaiah 55:11–13 (BSB):
[So] My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it. You will indeed go out with joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains
and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thornbush, a cypress1 will grow, and instead of the brier, a myrtle will spring up; they will make a name for the LORD, an everlasting sign, never to be destroyed.
Only God and His Word can do such a wonderful work in your life! As you read this book, you will begin to notice patterns of ways God speaks to people. Even though this book does not cover every way God speaks, as you develop your relationship with Him, you will begin to notice a plethora of ways God is already speaking to you. He wants to make Himself known to you; it’s just a matter of learning how to recognize Him. Sometimes He speaks in very simple but profound ways.
