Less is more

For those of us who believe in Jesus, God is no longer “simply God”, disconnected and absent, but is God with us, an active protagonist of everything we experience, a permanent companion and a faithful friend in all circumstances. The Word makes it clear to us that God is on our side (Romans 8:31) when we give Jesus our trust as our Lord and Savior.
That is why I know that if you received Jesus as Savior and Lord, He is with you, just as He was with Gideon.
And God has not changed. He has the same power, the same authority, and the same wisdom that He used to bring victory to this man from so long ago.

So think about it. God wants to relate with you personally. When He wanted to relate with Gideon, He came to sit under the same tree that gave him shade. God is going to appear where you are, in your city, among your people, and He is going to draw your attention precisely where you are. Think about it, because you don't want to walk past God and not pay your attention to Him. He already expressed His love for you when He gave his Son, that was sacrificed for you to have eternal life and you reconciled with Him.
Oddly enough, even a conversation with a stranger — or words written by a perfect stranger, like those you are reading right now — can be used by God to reveal His presence and plans to you. God wants to have with you one of those conversations that leave permanent traces, and He wants to lead you through the difficulties that come your way in victory.
At the same time, God wants you to open your heart to Him and to honestly express what you feel. God led His people to victory using a man who had the courage to tell Him that he considered that He had not kept His promise to be with them, that He had abandoned them. If you don't feel Him, tell Him. If you don't see Him, don't keep it to yourself, express it in His presence. He prefers a sincere heart that says what it truly feels than lying lips that say the right words without feeling them.
And listen. God has something to tell you. He wants you to know how He sees you, and believe me, what He sees is different from what you see. Let Him be your mirror, let Him describe how you are. He knows more about you than you do, and He knows what is going to happen from now on. So listen to Him.
God still has a plan, and your participation in it is tremendously important. Those of us who believe in Jesus are rescuers: we draw lives from the rubble, we show the path of light to those who have totally lost notion and meaning. God wants to use you. Yes, you. Gideon, you and I are the insignificants that God can use to do things greater than our imaginations.
So prepare yourself. Let yourself be surprised by the powerful Owner of everything that exists, because He comes to propel you with the wings of His love.
