We Will Trust

Each time God prompts me to step out of my comfort zone I need to ask myself, “Who will I follow?” As I’m learning to walk this out I’ve had many opportunities to practice.
I’m learning to recognize though I may feel afraid or nervous. It’s in that moment I need to seek God. In that moment I need to call out to Him for courage to walk out what He’s asking me to do. Not after I’ve panicked, planned, and exhausted all my efforts.
Looking back on our story and seeing how deceived I was I’m determined to not fall for the same schemes of the enemy again. How long I’d believed it was a normal part of a Christian life to be terrified and lack confidence. I thought it was normal to bounce off closed doors like a ping pong ball. Y’all it doesn’t have to be that way. I could’ve prayed, trusted, and waited for His direction.
I’d look at other Christians and think, “One day I’ll have faith like them.” Truth was, I had the same faith as them. I just didn’t know how to walk it out. I didn’t know when I received the Holy Spirit I also received the ability to not be feelings driven. To not be consumed by my emotions. Even if that’s my first reaction. I don’t have to let it control me. The new creation I’d become was still being covered up by the old self I was carrying around. I want you to know this scripture is true for you too. 2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.
It may take practice to change our patterns of thinking. You have the ability given to you by the Spirit that God gave you. Walk it out. Quit falling for the enemies schemes. He wants to trip you up and keep you in bondage. Use the weapons God gave you.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
