The Gift of God
Christmas is a happy time of year,
A time of giving gifts and cheer!
A joyful celebration of the birth of Christ, our salvation!
There’s hustling and bustling everywhere,
Rushing to prepare.
Buying gifts for friends and family to wrap and place beneath a tree,
Be it artificial or genuine, that we decorate and, continuing, may cover with lights in great supply to simulate those of the sky!
Atop, a star or an angel may nest that can be seen by passersby and marks the spot where our presents rest.
When all is made ready, we await to come the day we’ll give our gifts to our loved ones.
But what if after all we have done, when we present our gifts to certain ones, instead of the acceptance and joy we expect, they are displeased, and our gifts they reject?
Be concerned, but do not fret.
Because the acceptance of our earthly gifts will take them no closer to heaven than before the gifts were given.
No great loss will be suffered by them.
But there is a gift not beneath our tree, unaccepted by some friends and family.
From the wages of sin, He saves our souls!
He is more precious than diamonds, rubies, or gold!
For this gift there was no rushing to prepare.
Before the foundation of the world, He has always been here!
Yet He was born in a stable;
There was no room in the inn.
He was presented to us in the form of Man!
Over Him the Father’s brightest celestial star rejoiced to stand as a beacon for those who sought the Son of God, the King of the Jews, the Son of Man, the Lamb of God come to die for our sins!
For if the value of all gifts ever given could be tallied and told, indeed it could not pay the price for one soul to be freed!
Or if the love of all who have ever loved could be measured and its sum decreed, the love of God in Christ it could not exceed!
So you see, it truly matters if this gift they reject because their lives now and hereafter it will surely affect!
And it remains for you and me to present this Gift, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year at every opportunity!

About the Book
The title of the Book was inspired by my mother’s praise during storms. At the height of storms, she would lift her arms, wave her hands and say, “Ride on, King! Ride on!” In this way, she acknowledged that God was in control of the storm!
The Collection was inspired by experiences, dreams, and things pondered. Emotionally and spiritually, many of these were storms as well. But as with the natural storms, the Lord Jesus presided over them all.
About the Author
The author brings the religious perspective of one who grew up in the rural south in the 1960’s, migrated north, and then south again. This serves to broaden her religious view, as she has benefited from exposure to the religious climates of several regions. The author is an ordained Baptist Minister who holds a Masters of Divinity Degree and a Masters of Science Degree in Patient Counseling. Most of her collection was written prior to her licensing, ordination, and degrees. Her collection of poems are enlightening, proving foundational to her ministry, as well as relevant to life situations.
