The Core
We each have a calling, a destiny, a mission, a specific purpose for which we were created. First and foremost it is to glorify our maker and Father, the Almighty God. Within this we each have a specific calling. For Moses it was the rescue of the Israelites, God’s people, and he had over 40 years of preparation. For Noah it was the ark, the carrying on of the human race, and this did not take place until later in his life (between 500 and 600 years old). John the Baptist’s mission, the peak of it, took place in a six month time span. Jesus was unknown for the first 30 years of His life, then God used Him incredibly for three years which changed the entire world.
So we don’t stand idly by as we watch and wait in excited anticipation for God’s purpose and plan to unfold in our lives. We pursue Him. We decrease so that He increases. We surrender and submit. We open the door when He knocks. We obey. We love. We live. We live abundantly. We don’t compare to others. This life is between you and God, me and God. Whatever takes place outside of that is for His purposes, for the Great Commission, not for our personal gain, comfort, stardom, feelings of success or superiority.
What would our lives look like if we lived every waking moment as if the only person that really mattered is God? As if His specific purpose for us on this earth was the most important thing we could ever do?
We would prepare! We would need to know the goals of our Commander. How He operates, His historical ways of executing His plans. We would mold ourselves to His likeness to better fulfill and accomplish the mission when the time comes. We would train, physically, for this has some value, but more so for godliness. We would train hard. We would train through blood, sweat, and tears. We would be single-minded, focused, undistracted.
When the time comes; when the trumpets sound; when the race begins; when the fight ensues; when God’s time for us arrives, we will be ready! We will be weak in ourselves so that we are insanely strong in Christ. We will be full of the Spirit so that love, grace, and power burst and explode out from every word and action.
And all for what? To expand His Kingdom? To display Christ to a lost world? Yes...but ultimately to bring joy, love, and glory to the most High God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Ultimate Warrior and Unmatched Lover, the Beginning and the End. Our Master, our Friend, our Father. The Great I AM!!
Soften the Heart
When we speak to someone, when it’s from the heart with love, compassion, and grace then it softens the heart of those we’re speaking to. We naturally put up walls and become defensive when someone we feel doesn’t have the rights, position, or authority, or experience to tell us something. Our defenses go up, hearts harden, and the mind starts turning because our pride rises up.
But when we speak in obedience, out of love, never to be right or prove a point, then what comes out is not about us, but about God’s love and wisdom. The loving, compassionate heart speaking the words of Christ in grace and love and humility softens the heart of others. It draws down defenses, and puts them at ease, that they are safe; there is nothing to prove, and it doesn’t change the roles or relationship.
It’s a gracious, loving word not about the person speaking it, but its for God’s glory to bring a taste of heaven to earth in that moment.
John 7:18 “ The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of Him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.”
