The shortest route to success is not always the best route because if we encounter issues along the way that we were not prepared or trained for, we will fail. God knows this. When I finally surrendered to God, I had to learn to trust God. I had to learn how to do without needed resources, work through seemingly impossible problems, endure working with challenging personalities on my job, and love those who willfully mistreated me. I had to develop that thick skin and persistence in prayer. Even though I had no tangible evidence other than God’s word that everything was going to work out for me and my family’s good. I heard a preacher say we need to develop “Even If” attitudes. Meaning, even if God does not deliver me from this, I will not bow to the world, throw in the towel or buckle under the pressure of life. I chose to face everything under the power and might of God and be that conqueror. Why? Because there are hurting people who need what God has put in me, and they need to see someone who is anchored to God and not drowning in the sea of life. I need to be that someone they ask, “How can you stay calm in the midst of this when everything around you is going crazy?” God’s training, though at times it is tough, helped me to become a credible witness for his kingdom. I am boldly growing stronger and able to stand under the pressures of life. The bible tells us to endure hardship like a good soldier in Christ. If anyone ever plans on truly winning in life, we must first get connected to the source of life, which is God. Amassing great wealth, power, careers, and any other comfort in this world is not a real sign of living a winning life. Sure working hard and being a responsible person is right. Still, if your accomplishments are void of God’s hand, they are all useless.

About the Author
Perry Walker is an author, music producer, and a Marine Corps veteran from Austin, Texas. He is the husband of Keshah Darden Walker, the father of four beautiful children and has three grandchildren. Perry Walker became a Christian while serving in the Desert Storm campaign and is very passionate about his faith. His chief focus in life is to help others to see the greatness in their lives through Christ. Although he regularly engages those who do not believe there is a God, he never belittles them for their lack of faith. Perry seeks to share his faith with the hope that those that do not believe will come to believe in Christ.
