There is no greater love than a mother and her child. By the time my son was out of diapers I found myself a single mother of four. Having grown up a latch key child I had the great misfortune of venturing into lots of unpleasant experiences. I was determined that my children would never have to experience any of the terrible things I had to endure. By the time I was nine years old I had been repeatedly molested by the babysitter’s son. My innocence was taken away never to return. As I grew up a cloud of shame followed me everywhere I went. Determined to keep that shame hidden I tried to block the memories of those times out. Yet I still remembered being lured to undisclosed places by this teenage boy who violated me time and time again. He seemed to be smart enough never to leave any physical evidence of his violation, but mentally he destroyed me. When I look back over my experience today, I thank God because it could have been worse. I think about how little girls were raped and murdered, leaving their families devastated. That could have been me, but God.

Living through the fire, Burnt but not consumed, "A Mother's Story" is a story of a young mothers journey through an unkind world. This mother knows what heart ache and pain is first hand. Every man that she has ever dealth with has hurt her in some way. Finally God blesses her with a son, a man who will love her unconditional. This mother vows to protect her children but mainly her baby boy and makes sure that they never have to experience any of the shameful things that she endured growing up. But oneday an unsuspecting person enter the picture and turns this mothers world upside down. Lies, deception and manipulation nearly ruins a bond formed between a mother and her child but a new relationship helps this mother view every heartache and pain she suffered in a different perspective.
About the Author
She is a person that has been through alot in her life and knows what it is to struggle. A single mother raising her children while fighting the injustices that come with being a single black female. She raised her children and took many others in along the way, then went back to school to pursue her dreams. She graduated in the top of her class with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She is currently a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Ohio and works as a case manager to veterans in a permanent supportive housing environment. She is a woman that wears many hats and wears them well; a christian woman, a mother, a grandmother and a licensed social worker. She believes in helping people and meeting them where they are at. With years of experience that she gained just by surviving life in a world that told her she wouldnt be anything. Through her writings she creates real life stories with the help of God that she hopes can be a source of encouragement for others going through lifes difficulties.
