Day 1: God Is Calling “A third time the Lord called, ‘Samuel!’ And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am; you called me.’ Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.” —1 Samuel 3:8 (NIV) God is calling. You have a special purpose that is unique to you. No one else can accomplish it. If you don’t do it, no one else will. You are qualified. You are capable. You are ready. God is calling. Your calling may be a profession. It may be a mission. It may be a relationship. It may be a business. It could be a family or a connection. You may be especially skilled or have a unique opportunity to serve. You may have access to resources or an abundance of time. Whatever is unique about who you are, where you are, what you have to offer, how you can serve, and when you are available is an indication of how God may be calling you. You could be an evangelist, a teacher, a coach, a missionary, a leader, a mentor, a manager, a researcher, a builder, a designer, a motivator, or a support. You might be the title role in one mission, a supporting cast member in another purpose, and an extra for some other cause. You may be called to relationship in one context and mission in another. Investment in one business and management in another. Teaching in one group and listening in another. You have a core purpose that is central in all your life’s callings, but you also have the opportunity to realize God’s purpose in every experience, every relationship, and every connection that comes your way.
