You Are Here for a Purpose
Purpose, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is the reason why something is done, or used. It also states that it is the aim, or intention, of something. These definitions are both true, and can be related to anything that has been created.
Everything that has been created was first an idea in someone’s mind before it came into existence. Let’s take the chair for example. Before the chair was invented, someone had the thought to come across their mind as to why they would need it. With that being said, everything that has been created, stemmed from the need of one person, or another. No one creates anything that is not needed. That is a total waste of time. I did not say that people do not purchase things they may not need, I said that no one creates, or invents, things that they do not need. Now, back to the example of the chair.
I imagine that someone, who was looking to rest their body, was the inventor of the chair. There were many different ways that one could rest before it was invented. Sitting on a large rock, the ground, or leaning against a fixed object are just a few. Yet still, none would truly suffice, for various uses and extended periods of time, and uphold a sustained level of comfort.
Being that many things have been built, using our natural resources that this wonderful planet provides, the thought of the chair had to come across someone’s mind, or be placed in someone’s spirit, to build a more comfortable way to sit and rest one’s body.
Likewise, when it comes to people, none of us are here, without direct intent and will of our creator. It is he that gives life.
KJV Psalm 148:5 “for he commands, and they were created.”
KJV Psalm 104:30 “thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created.”
KJV Isaiah 42:5 “Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to people that walk therein.”
KJV Isaiah 45:12 “I have made the earth, and created man upon it.”
KJV Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in the earth.”
This means that you and I were created by God, ladies and gentlemen. All of us were created on purpose, and for a purpose. Even those of us that were conceived under harsh circumstances; be it a product of a one-night stand, or even rape. If you are here, you are here for a purpose.
The key to life is discovering the purpose for which you were created. How does one discover their purpose? Glad you asked. Humor me for a second.
*If you are here, you are here for a purpose.*
If you were living in the caveman era, and someone from the future transported a 2016 Mercedes-Benz to you, you would probably look at it strange, maybe smell it, lick it to see if it had taste, or any number of things. But I highly doubt that you would get in it and drive it. Why? Because, if you don’t know the purpose of something, you will not know how to properly use it. You definitely will not know how to get its full potential out of it. You might even go as far as to take your weapon and beat upon it; mad that it is in your way. You could have an awesome blessing right in front of you, and not realize it.
If you were to read its manual, it would explain to you the purpose of the vehicle, why it was created, the features of it, and how it is to be used. The same applies to us. Until we open the manual, The Word of God, and learn of our Lord and Savior, we may never know why we were created; for what purpose; how we are to be handled; and our special features (see Mathew 25:14-30).
We all were given gifts and talents, and God expects us to use our gifts to reach and minister to others. Not to use them for our own selfish gain, but for his glory. This book, that you are reading, is one of the many gifts and talents that he has bestowed upon me. As you can see, I’m using it to minister to you, and to also tell of the goodness of Jesus. This brings glory to God. Bringing God glory, will ten times out of ten, result in benefits for the person using the gift. Why? Because God is love. And love always seek to make sure others have the things they need. And occasionally, the things they may want as well.
