John carelessly and rebelliously put the bottle of dark brown liquid to his lips, swallowed, gagged, and wiped his lips with his sleeve. "I don't care who hears me. I hope the whole world hears me. I am done with God and that is final." He stomped out of the kitchen and out of the house with the door slamming behind him.

The characters portrayed come from various backgrounds and different times. All had trials and troubles to combat but each were victorious over them. It was God working in His mysterious and powerful ways to make them great examples and blessings to others. Exactly how this happened makes fascinating and soul-wrenching reading.
These true stories offer a wonderful glimpse into the personal and intimate details of lives that have made a huge impact on the world. Men and women, although imperfect, learned to navigate life despite hardships. I loved reading how these individuals learned to hear the voice of God! Middle graders and up will be inspired as they come along side these sojourners and get a glimpse into their spiritual journeys.
