It was an honest mistake. I had no intention of aiding and abetting two criminals on the FBI’s most-wanted list. Nor of fanning the flames of political unrest in South America. Nor of investing in a donkey-ride tour business for sightseers in the jungles of Ecuador. Nor forgetting to write in my “journal.” But like Dad always says, we can’t change our past mistakes, only decide how to handle the fallout. And boy, was there a fallout…and to think it all started from one, little, insignificant, stupid decision. On the other hand, Mom is always one for pointing out how we can learn from our mistakes - and, boy, did I learn. If I hadn’t ended up in South America to learn about greed, I may never have learned the Spanish word for redheads, what a roasted Guinea pig looks like, or even how faith tends to grow through trouble. You’re probably wondering how this is all related, and let me assure you it is, but it’s kind of confusing. Let me explain…

H.L. Ullom is the author of many fascinating works… most of which (thankfully) never have or will ever see the light of day. As a teacher, she draws her inspiration from the logical and not-at-all humorous decision-making of elementary-age humans.
