Once upon time in a faraway land there was a large forest. In the center of the forest was a peaceful pool of cool water, fed by a sparkling happy little brook. Beside the pool stood a little tree. I would like to say that it, too, was a happy beautiful little tree, but that would be untrue, for the truth was that this little tree was neither happy nor beautiful.
