Vickee Martin, RN, BSN worked over 20 years in a hospital, walking beside patients and their families, that had a life-threatening illness, terminally ill, in the dying process, as well as those who were in crisis. She listened to their stories, provided information regarding grief and loss, as well as helped them to cope with the difficult and painful situation. After retirement, Vickee co-facilitates Griefshare through her church, which is a 13 week course.
Grief is hard work. The more devastating a loss is to you, the more your grief will need to work and the harder you will need to grieve. Knowing the tasks and stages of grief will enable you to process your grief and move forward.
By understanding the normal reactions to a crisis or loss, it enables you to know what to expect and that you are not alone. Although one never “gets over” the loss of their loved one, doing the needed grief work leads you through the path to healing. Vickee also offers religious and spiritual guidance and tells her readers, “the Lord can provide the best source of support” when it comes to dealing with grief.
In this gentle inspiring book, Vickee Martin leads us through her experience to the precious power of God who can sustain and comfort any grieving heart. This book is a valuable grief group resource that guides those who grieve to The Morning After Mourning. From grief, Vickee leads us to grow more gracious and receive God’s gift of comfort and hope.
