The shepherd signaled his sheepdog, Shep, to go roundup the sheep in the far corner of the pasture.
Shep took off running at the command. He loved his job. As he reached the far corner of the pasture, he started barking out his commands for the sheep to start moving toward the shelter. Some of the sheep were too busy grazing to pay attention to Shep, so he nudged at their heels, and then barked some more. It finally got them to start moving.
Minnie noticed how Shep was nudging at the heels of the sheep. "Mother, why does Shep nudge the heels of the sheep like that?"
"Shep nudges their heels to get them to listen to him. They weren't listening to him barking the command to move. He is the shepherd's helper. He's doing everything he can to round us up and get us all into the gate safely for the night. When you listen to him, you will always be safe. He is here to protect us, not to harm us, but to guide us to safety."
When they were all safely in the pen and snuggled in their straw bed, Minnie was ready to listen to her mother tell some more about how the Creator did away with taking lives of perfect lambs. "So what did the Creator do?"
Eunice started telling Minnie and the other little lambs close by, the story that was passed down to her by her mother, grandmother and what she heard the shepherd tell his little shepherd boy. "The Creator knew since the beginning of time how He would save the humans from their wrongdoings. He was sending His Son to be the perfect lamb that would save the world."

About the Book
After a perfect little lamb was born to, Fleecy, one of the ewe’s of a flock of sheep, a ewe named Eunice started to tell her little lamb, Minnie, about how a perfect lamb like that had to give it’s life on an altar by humans in the old days. She told her how the first humans ate the fruit the Creator told them not to when the deceiver said it would make them wise. They hid from the Creator, but He found them and told them they would no longer live forever. Minnie said that was awful, then saw her friend Woolly and asked Eunice if she could go play with him. Eunice knew Minnie had a short attention span, so she agreed. She could finish telling Minnie the story later. Minnie and Woolly ran too far way from the flock and had some trouble that the shepherd had to help them get out of. When Minnie got back, Eunice scolded her for going too far. Eunice started telling Minnie more of the story. Soon it was time to head for the shelter. The shepherd had his sheepdog, Shep, roundup all the sheep. When the sheep were all safe in the shelter, Eunice finished telling the story of the Perfect Lamb to Minnie and the other little lambs close by. They were all thankful that perfect lambs didn’t have to die for humans anymore. They felt safe in the shelter and fell to sleep.
About the Author
Judith taught Sunday school and Children’s church for years and felt inspired to write Eunice’s Story of the Perfect Lamb so children would know why Jesus came to this earth. She went from Genesis to the resurrection of Jesus in this story. She did all the artwork and used sheep to tell her story.
