Stan did not know what to do. Should he run, or prepare to fight off this irate “talking monkey”. Stan thought, “This must be some kind of weird day dream, monkeys don’t talk.” But the next thing he knew the angry monkey was yelling right into his face. “If this isn’t real, my dream monkey has bad breath with a slight hint of banana,” thought Stan. The monkey continued to go on his rampage, “I have a good mind to punch you right is that big fat thing on your face you most likely call a nose. You don’t see any of us over there at that flimsy lean-to of yours taking your stuff, no we respect the rights of others. But here you are! You come on our island, uninvited I might add, and just take it upon yourself to take whatever you want. Well what have you got to say for yourself? Or are you intelligent enough to respond to me, answer in a series of grunts if you have to, well?” All Stan could say is, “You talk!” The monkey threw up his hands, “You are brilliant, a regular Einstein and Baby Face Nelson all rolled into one big mouth.” Stan still in shock replied, “You really do talk.” Following that comment the monkey calmed down and sat in the sand across from Stand and said, “Look man I apologize; I’m having a bit of a bad day today. There is no need to take the coconuts; I would gladly give you all you need.” Stan slowly coming out of shock from meeting an angry talking monkey and no longer feeling threatened, also apologized. “I saw your coconuts and assumed they had just fallen to the ground. I did not see you in the tree. I would never steal from you or anyone else.” The monkey said, “Take whatever you need and have a blessed day.”

About the Book
Stan is a man who thought he “had it made”. He was from a good family and had a sound Christian upbringing. However, Stan rebelled, turning away from all that he had been taught; he ran from God. After high school he took off on his own, with an “I’ll do it my way” attitude. For awhile “his way” worked; but, that was all about to come to an abrupt end. He’ll go from “standing high” on his own merit, to lying face down in the sand, on an isolated island, with nothing: all in one big “leap”. He’ll lose everything, and his only way back will be through an unlikely source: a “barrel of monkeys”. Come laugh and cry, as we follow Stan through his adventures on this “one of a kind” island. During our travel with Stan, we will learn some valuable life lessons and godly principles.
About the Author
Mr. Robert W. Lailheugue III is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from military service, he went to work for the largest sheriff’s office in the State of Louisiana. As a police officer, Mr. Lailheugue worked in a number of different capacities including undercover vice squad officer, patrol officer, canine handler (both narcotics and patrol), bomb technician, sergeant (Patrol and Canine Divisions), and finally Commander of the Canine and Emergency Divisions. After leaving the sheriff’s office, he went to work for a large nuclear utility company where he started up and operated the security department at one of the company’s nuclear power plants. He later moved out of security and moved into other management positions within the company before retiring in 2004. He is married to his high school sweetheart and currently living in South Louisiana where they have raised their two children. When not traveling, they attend the Harbor Church in Hammond, Louisiana, where they are actively serving in the Christian community. Mr. Lailheugue enjoys hunting, fishing and serving the Lord. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and has attended numerous law enforcement, security and management schools.
