Change me, Father God
Please teach me to be still
Help me listen to your voice
So that I can do your will
Help me bury my old habits
It’s so tough, I do admit
My thoughts rule my emotions
And my focus starts to shift
I get anxious at the thought
That I may fail again
For I am just a sinner
And all I’ve known is sin
I walk the straight and narrow
For a little while until
I lose all my momentum
And get caught up in free-will
Why...Lord, am I unfaithful?
I am a scoundrel; the worst kind
Why can’t I be a perfect
Masterpiece of your design?
Dear Child of mine:
“I heard your silent thoughts today
I watched you from above
I heard you pray a couple times
I’m so proud of you, my love
I saw you turn away from sin
I know temptations' plentiful
And you’re learning to decipher
What may be unethical
I’m not looking for perfection
Because if that were the case
Not one soul would be in Heaven
It would be a lonely place
I see a child that’s healing
Who was broken and depressed
Who’s not ashamed to love me
And who’s trying to do their best
I see you stand, then fall again
But that’s alright with me
I can read inside your soul
How you want to be set free
You are priceless; you’re my treasure
You’re my masterpiece, it’s true
I loved you even long before
I created you!”

About the Book
“Be Still” is a book of poems written and inspired by the love and grace of Jesus Christ. There’s something about the ocean and the sound of the waves that is ever so calming. The gentle creeping tide, sand between your toes and amazing sunsets compliment the spirit inspired words in each poem. The idea of this book is to fill you with peace and carry you away into blissful serenity. At times we need reminders to be still in Gods presence; to find a quiet place where we can shut out the chaos of the world and listen with our hearts, to Gods voice. We all need encouragement because we get so busy and caught up in a world full of anxiousness and despair. Let the power and presence embrace you as you flow through the pages of “Be Still”.
About the Author
Susan Tamsi-Melendrez wrote her first poem in 1975 and has been writing inspirational poetry ever since. She draws from the experiences in life which others can relate to and creates inspiring and uplifting messages of hope to enlighten the lives of others. When she’s not working or writing, she takes long walks along the beach while doing her daily devotion, praying and embracing God’s glory and spirit.
