Ministry of Caregivers
Caregiving is a” Ministry” ordained of God, which requires hands on assistance to the recipient. While rendering care to others, many caregivers experience physical strains and emotional stresses that affect their lives.
Caregivers are unsung heroes who often put their dreams, goals, and attention to themselves on hold, while devoting their lives to care for others.
“For God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of Love, which you have shown toward His Name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister (Hebrew 6:10)”. The word encourages caregivers, saying “Then shall the righteous answer Him, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungered, and fed Thee? Or thirsty and gave Thee drink when saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked and clothed The? Or when saw we sick or in prison and came unto Thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me (Matthew 25:37-40)”.
We All Have Basic Needs
We all have the inherent need for Love, a feeling of Belonging, Safety, Socialization, and Physiological needs, as described in Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. (Wikipedia, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs). We unknowingly seek to have these needs met on a daily basis.
Caregivers Serve as Role Models
Caregivers’ serve as role models to others in families, churches, and communities, demonstrating through their actions, that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The Word of God says, “I have shown you all things, how that so laboring ye sought to support the weak, and to remember the words of The Lord Jesus, how He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).” Upon my entering nursing school and completing the RN curriculum, several young women, of whom I am acquainted, also enrolled and persevered in the nursing profession.

About the Book
This book is written to encourage caregivers, whether they serve at home or in institutions. They should be encouraged that their roles are vitally important to others. In this book, we discuss the plight of all caregivers and the woes and rewards of being a caregiver. Caregiving is a ministry ordained by God. Caregivers are unsung heroes who often put their dreams, goals, and aspirations on hold to care for others, which ultimately affects their hands, heart, and health.
My personal testimony is shared here, telling of how caregiving affected my hands, my heart, and my health.
About the Author
Dorothy Jean Whittaker McDaniel was born November 2, 1939 in Carroll County, Mississippi. She is the daughter of the late Victoria P. Whittaker and the late James E. Whittaker, Jr. She is the 5th of 9 children. She was married to the late William E. McDaniel, Sr. She resides in Mount Olive, NC. Dorothy is a mother, grandmother and great -grandmother. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 50 years and is currently retired. She is the author of two published books: Supernatural Encounters published in 2006 and Wake up the Sleeping Giants published in 2014. She is an Evangelist and was called to minister the word of God in 1986. In 1992, she founded Miracles of Faith Ministries Incorporated. Dorothy also founded Winning Youth for Christ and the Miracles of Faith 24-hour intercessory Prayer Wheel. In 2016, a conference prayer line was established, in which prayer and the word of God is ministered Monday thru Friday from 6am to 7am weekly. She has prayer service at the Miracles of Faith House of Prayer every Monday evening at 6pm and on Thursday at 12 noon. She ministers weekly on the radio station WDJS, 1430am in Mount Olive, NC. She is the Associate Minister/Elder at Gospel Light United Holy Church of America located in Mount Olive, NC., where Dr. Dwight Morrissey, Sr, Pastor. The Miracles of Faith ministry provides meals on wheels to the elderly, sick, and shut-in on a monthly basis. Her Godly wisdom, as well as, her loving nature has made her a valuable asset to her family, church, and community.
