2012 was a tough year. It marked 12 years of ministry with minimal church growth. I also had some family issues that made me question my ability to lead the people of God. I went to Texas to talk to my pastor about it. He told me that I had a faith problem that stemmed from a love problem. Bishop said, “You’ve forgotten how much God loves you!” Do you know how much God loves you? Our identity is in God’s divinity. Every confidence or self esteem issue we have comes from a love issue. Don’t diminish how you think of you. God loves you! Start talking to yourself and say, "God loves me, and I do too!"
Jesus loves you so much that He comes to live within you. He also places His Spirit upon you, commands His angels to be encamped about you, sends His word to go before you, causes His goodness and mercy to follow you, and commands His blessings to overtake you! How can you ever doubt you? If you doubt you, you are doubting God’s love for you. It's a faith problem that stems from a love problem! Walk in the confidence of knowing how much God loves you! It's called First Love.
1 John 4:19
We love Him, because he first loved us.
God’s love is unconditional. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” First love means God loved us first, chronologically. God loved us before we loved Him. God's love for you is not based on what you do for Him. Because you did nothing to make God love you, nothing you can do can stop God from loving you.
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Keeping yourself in the love of God means you keep reminding yourself that the love of God is unconditional, unstoppable, and irrevocable!
