PREFACE
I have considered publishing a book for many years from the encouragements of my
wife, Verna, and many friends, some whom have known me all of my 33 years in the FBI, and 10 years as a Special Agent of State ABC.
I was also on the Governor’s Task Force, four years as a Deputy Sheriff of Sumner County, Tennessee, three years of government security checks for Omniplex World Services Corporation. Finally, 15 years, as the owner of Investigative Services and Technologies, Inc.
This totals 65 years of some type of law enforcement and I think that is enough. It has been determined I am the oldest living retired employee if the Memphis division of the Bureau.
The reason for so many encouragements is that I remember, and was involved in, many historical cases in the division that no one would ever know about if it were not recorded in a book. I personally worked on these Memphis Div. cases from 1960 thru 1986 in some assignment.
I dedicate this book, first to God, for letting me live this life, to Verna, my lovely wife, my entire family, friends and to everyone who reads this book. 1 ESPECIALLY NOW THANKS, TO THE 59 DEDICATED EMPLOYEES OF THE OFFICE FORCE, WHO WITHOUT THEM NO OFFICE COULD SURVIVE.

About the Book
Jim Brady worked with the FBI for thirty-three years—and he’s the oldest living retired employee of the Memphis division of the bureau.
He began working for the bureau in March 1954, going to fingerprint school in the Washington, D.C. office. There, he learned how to compare and contrast fingerprints and went on to teach at the very same fingerprint school. He served in numerous other roles over the next few decades.
Whether it was a federal case, serving on a task force, or working as a private investigator with local, state, and federal officers, he brought his best to the table every day
In this book, he examines some of the FBI’s most interesting cases, including the investigation into Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. Another interesting case was Billy Dean Anderson, who had been on the FBI top ten list for five years and was found living in a two-room cave in middle Tennessee.
He also looks back at the civil era of James Meredith, the first black student to enter Ole Miss and the subsequent rioting that killed two individuals and wounded forty.
The book also documents how law enforcement has changed over time, including the increasing importance of computers.
