Thought for the Day: “Captive Thoughts”
Because we are housed in these bodies of clay, it is easy to allow ourselves to be subject to the thoughts of the flesh. As we consider the Words of our heavenly Father, we realize that our daily thoughts don't compare to His. It is important that we delete these earthly thoughts from the memory bank of our mind. God has equipped us with an arsenal that will take hold of these thoughts and dethrone them in our lives. Any argument, theory, reasoning, or proud thing that claims to be higher than God in our lives must be dealt with.
When we renew our minds with the Word of God, we are gathering the weapons that will bring victory into our lives. God’s Word opposes the words of this world. As a result, we find ourselves in the middle of a conflict. Our minds are the battleground for this warfare. There is a “tug of war” going on in our minds. Every time we allow the Word of God to override the words of the world, we take that thought captive and it is deleted from our mind. Eventually, we will have more of the Word of God in our memory bank than the words of this world. When this happens, God’s thoughts will reign supreme in our minds and we will be set free from the thoughts of the flesh.
Declaration and Confession:
God has equipped me with the mighty weapons of His Word. Although I live in this body of flesh, I will not allow it’s thoughts to rule in my life. I will take my daily training in His Word and exercise it in my thoughts. The words of this world will become captive to the Words of God in my life. I will obey God’s Word and dethrone the words of this world. I am victorious, because I know God, Jesus is my Messiah, and I am empowered by the Holy Spirit!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I am thankful to you for giving me the victory over the things of this world. Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. I acknowledge who you are in my life today. Your Word is truth. I hide your Word in my heart today, so I won’t sin against you. Every thought that does not acknowledge who you are and tries to exalt itself above you, I take captive right now. You are well able to do all things in my life. There is absolutely nothing that is too hard for you to do.
I submit my will, my emotions, and every thought to my knowledge of who you are. You are a great and mighty God! I cast everything upon you that would try to convince me that I am defeated. Thank you for the victory in my life today! In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

She’s degreed in business education and a licensed K-12 educator, but teaching is more to her than just a profession — it is a calling. As one who has added enrichment to the lives of many believers, Mrs. Mosley has nurtured and educated new and mature believers in times of transition and turbulence. She’s taken Ephesians 4:12 to heart: “for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Gwendolyn Mosley is the proud mother of three adult sons. She and her husband, Edwin, both ordained ministers, live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
