Given Life
I was given life,
When He gave His life.
My greatest gift came down from the Father of Lights.
He stepped down from His deity,
To capture my captivity.
I was shackled,
Sin had dominion over me.
Down through forty and two generations,
He came,
To reclaim my liberty.
Ten thousand angels waited to burst the sky,
When they pierced Him in the side,
He sighed,
“It is finished.”
Darkness shook the universe,
I am no longer cursed,
I have been given new birth.
I was given life.

About the Author
Kejar L. Butler has loved the dynamic relationship that exists between words since she was a child. That love inspired her to begin writing poetry. She has chosen to use her gift to encourage others to live their best lives in Christ. Her first book, A New Day: Scriptural Encouragement Poems for Women, featured inspirational poems Daughter of The King, Dance in the Rain, and Butterfly Soul. Kejar earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University and her Master of Business Administration from Walden University.
