Return to Cape San Blas is a rich story of a young woman, just twenty-nine, who has learned that she has terminal cancer and is returning with her young daughter to her childhood home on the Cape. The story follows Kristen’s cancer journey, her relationships with family and friends, and her reconnection with the love of her life, handsome Brett Hanson. Romance is alive in this novel, and there are many surprises. The thread of Romans 8:28 is weaved throughout this story – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. There are different life trials in this story, in addition to the young woman’s cancer journey, and suspense as the story unfolds. One of the author’s favorite scenes is when Kristen suggests a celebration right in the middle of everything, a celebration of rejoicing in their sufferings (Romans 5:3-5). This takes place as Kristen, her mom, and her girlfriends travel down the river on a pontoon boat. There are many good times that happen amid the trials and tribulations of Kristen, her family, and friends. This story is truly an example of how to keep your faith in very difficult and trying times.

About the Author
Nancy Welch earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She has experience as a social worker with hospice, caring for those with terminal illness and their families, and with the public school system. A Florida native, Welch has been visiting Cape San Blas since 1972 when her daughter, whose cancer journey was the inspiration for this novel, was nine months old. It is only fitting that she would make Cape San Blas the setting of this story.
