Can't Do It Monster

The next day I was coloring a picture when I got out of the lines with the marker I was using. I said, “Oh, man. It is ruined. I can’t even color a picture.” Sure enough, Lola appeared.

I decided to ask her about what she does when she is not with me.

I said, “Lola, where do you go when you are not with me?” Lola said, “I am always close to you but sometimes you cannot see me. I also have friends like me that live here too and I play with them.”

I was shocked. I said “You have friends that live here? Why have I not seen them? Where are they?” I felt like Lola had been keeping secrets and momma and daddy says secrets are not good.

Lola said, “Yes, there are more like me. There are two that live here and a new one is moving in soon. We can only be seen by each other. You are special because you can see me. My other friends cannot be seen by their persons. Can we dance now? I do not like all these questions.”

I said, “I just have one more question. What do you eat?”

Lola looked surprised at the question. “Remember, I said a long time ago, I eat candy.”

I said, “I remember, but what kind of candy? I know there is lots of candy in the house but what kind do you eat. I like chocolate. What do you like?”

Lola smiled the not so nice smile and said, “Candy is what we call it. You humans have lots of names for it like fear and doubt. Whenever you say you can’t do something, I get fed. Now, no more questions, let’s dance.”
