About the Book

People are talking, texting, tweeting, and posting. Whether Twitter to Twitter, Instagram to Instagram, Facebook to Facebook, FaceTime to FaceTime, or face-to-face, conversations are happening nonstop. Many conversations are gossip, but the most important conversations center on the Gospel of Jesus. Jesus has called his followers to be Gospel conversationalists, not gossip conversationalists.

Do you consider yourself a conversationalist? Does engaging in conversation come easy for you? Or does engaging in conversation terrify you? Whether being conversational comes easy for you or not, any and every follower of Jesus can become a Gospel conversationalist.

Jesus was the original Gospel conversationalist. What Jesus said should influence what Jesus’s followers say. How Jesus said what he said should influence how Jesus’s followers say what they say.

When Jesus engaged in one-on-one conversations, he spoke the language of the person with whom he was speaking. Jesus spoke differently to the Samaritan woman than he did Nicodemus. To the woman at the well, Jesus spoke about water to share the Gospel with her. While speaking with Nicodemus, Jesus used the account of Moses lifting up the serpent on the pole to share the Gospel with him.

By considering Jesus’s conversational approach to sharing the truth of the Gospel, this book seeks to mine through some of Jesus’s encounters and one-on-one conversations for applicable principles for becoming a Gospel conversationalist. A Gospel conversationalist is one who, like Jesus, engages the lost in everyday life. A Gospel conversationalist is one who is working to win people to Jesus. Are you ready to become a Gospel conversationalist?
