Three Trees

Even though Quinn had met new friends on his journey, he still felt a strong feeling of loneliness. After all, being in a new place, filled with darkness and gloom, can certainly ware on ones self. Not to mention the fact he really did not know which direction to travel or what he would find once he got to his destination. And just what was his destination, and who was this Seer, he was told to speak to? Was this person and actual being, or possibly a made up figure of other's dreams and imaginations? So much weighed on Quinn's mind. Quinn always felt someone was watching him and even guiding him. "Each turn I make on this path, I feel like I'm being guided." Quinn said. Why do I feel this way? Through life, we often feel the need for guidance, even if we decide to admit it or not. Perhaps it is something we might want to decide for ourselves, but often reach out to others, with the experience we need to succeed in our quest. Quinn was mature enough to listen to these voices of experience. No one said he had to take the advice he had been given, but something in him told him to listen. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in many ways, and Quinn knew this was what was happening in his life. For Quinn, this journey would be one of his toughest challenges. Not just because of the difficult tasks that he would face on the trail, but also the barriers of lifes struggles and disciplines.

Quinn walked for two days before coming to a clearing in the forest. There, the trail seemed to stop, not clearly giving him direction to travel. Becoming bewildered, he said to himself, "What am I to do now, which direction do I go?" Suddenly he heard something like a whisper, a sound like the wind speaking to him. "I can show you the way." it said. "Who said that, who are you?" Quinn exclaimed. It is I, the voice of the forest.The voice seemed to be coming from a large, mystical looking tree. What is it, that has brought you this deep into the forest? "I'm in search of the Seer." Quinn stated. What payment do you offer to seek guidance? Quinn, not having anything to offer, but the items tucked away in his knapsack, quickly reached in and pulled out a delicious large red apple. "Would this pay for my passage?" Quinn asked. Suddenly, a dark silhouette of a person appeared, yet still looking like part of the tree. The tree lowered a branch, which resembled an arm. The end of the branch, opened up like a hand, to receive a gift. Quinn placed the beautiful large red apple at the end of the limb. Suddenly a voice said, "Continue along this path, but beware of the Devil's Staircase. The climb can be treacherous! Look to find the Three Trees, they are there to help you. Do not be afraid, all hope and faith are yours, if you so choose." Quinn's eyes opened wide as the forest's trees began to separate away from each other. It was like the trees became alive, stepping back to provide an opening for Quinn to travel between. Then the voice said, "Proceed on your quest, you are given safe passage." Though Quinn was a bit startled, he said, "Thank you," and headed quickly down the path.
