“Isaiah, c’mon!” Called Brittany, Isaiah’s mother. Isaiah knew she meant business because she only called him by his real name and not his nick name, Izzy or Izzy Bear. Isaiah had no idea where they were going?” Isaiah wined as he asked the question. His mother answered, excitedly, “We are going to the botanical gardens!” Isaiah couldn’t understand why his mom was so excited. Isaiah wasn’t sure what the first word meant, but he sure knew what gardens meant and he didn’t think there was anything exciting about gardens.

Isaiah loves playing video games, it’s his most favorite thing to do in the world! One day his mom surprises him with a trip to the botanical gardens and he assumes it isn’t going to be fun. He thinks he would have more fun playing video games instead. When he meets the local Botanist, Ms. Kelley, she opens his eyes to the wonderful world of flowers. Will he embrace this new adventure?
About the Author
Kimberly Deneen is a proud graduate of the historic Virginia Union University and also received her Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She is a 17 year master educator and has taught at all levels from infancy to high school. She currently resides in Chesterfield, Virginia and is the mother of one adult son, Myles. She is a world traveler, speaks fluent French, enjoys exploring diverse cultures, and loves cooking and sampling international cuisine.
