Finding Joy Beyond the Headlines

Why is there terrible news to report? We live in a broken world full of broken people spiraling out of control and in desperate need of saving. We live on a dark planet urgently seeking light. That’s why disgusting news gets all the headlines and good news becomes the outlier. Good news is now uncommon. Good news has become an anomaly. It's oxymoronic. It's rare to see good news because, by our very nature, not one of us is good. Yet, it does exist. It exists because God exists and is working in our mess. I don’t like the over-saturation of bad news any more than you do, but it sure does make me appreciate the good news.
Without frowns, you can't appreciate smiles.
Without chaos, you'll never understand peace.
Without villains, heroes would never be cheered.
If we learn to see past the negative headlines and embrace the positivity God wants us to uncover each day, we can avoid some of the downfalls that come with living in a broken world. In this modern era of non-stop global information, we simply can't avoid the negative news forever. But, we can certainly praise, uplift, and promote every granule of positive news we find on this earth. That's my mission every morning I pick up a camera and microphone.
I’m tired of the empty feeling that comes with the negative headlines. I have decided it is time to fight back.
Bad news can lead to bad results. Creatively announcing bad news is an effective tool that the devil uses to crush our spirits. Depressing headlines show up when we can least afford to hear them, and digesting it all can be difficult. That’s because we naturally have an intolerance to bad news. God didn’t design us to be compatible with it. He made humans in His image, and His image is pure and holy. Bad news doesn’t sit well in our guts because God doesn’t like bad news.
That doesn’t mean we won’t see a steady diet of it in our lives. Fortunately, there is an antidote: Finding Joy Beyond The Headlines.
