Our worship, whether privately or corporately, should be presented with extreme enthusiasm. But many times, it’s not. We attend church bound, and we leave bound. We go depressed and leave depressed. We go with troubled hearts and clouded minds, and leave the same way we came. This isn’t how God intended life to be. Our enthusiasm for Him frees us from the bondage of depression and heaviness. Jesus came that we might have abundant life. Living an abundant life doesn’t mean it will be free from struggles, but struggles will soon pass.
First Peter 5:10 says, “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (KJV).
The word when used here instead of the word if indicates that temptations will come. But be joyous regardless of the circumstances. The enemy has succeeded in subtly stealing our joy, but we can get it back. Our joy is refreshed and renewed when we sit in His presence. The psalmist wrote, “In His presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16:11 KJV).

Sundra Carson’s love for writing began while studying Business Management at Belmont-Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. As a student, she wrote a One-Act play, “No Regrets”. She is an ordained minister who has spoken at Women Conferences, and has hosted Women Retreats and Seminars. She is the Director of the Women’s Life Group at her local church.
