Journey On!
I couldn’t stop long at the wayside,
Nor weary, rest long at the inn,
For Someone kept urging me onward
The path that He chose I begin.
The goal I could see in the distance
My spirit kept hopeful and bright,
A Home and a joyful reunion
Awaited in Heaven’s clear light.
There loved ones all gather rejoicing,
Their own journey’s toil finally past,
While watching and cheering my progress,
They know I will make it at last!
For He has secured my safe passage,
Arrival at Home will be mine,
No matter the dark clouds that gather,
They know I will make it just fine!
As faithful I follow His bidding,
And to my task ply every skill,
There will come a day, not too far away,
When to Himself call me He will.
And oh the joy on that blest meeting
As there by His side we shall stand,
Together at last, all toil’s sorrow past,
Again we shall walk hand in hand!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1 (ESV)
Lesson From A Pansy
The pansy is a sturdy plant,
Though beaten down by rain,
When sunshine warms the ground beneath…
It blooms with flowers again!
The hailstorm, which with thunderous noise
Awakened me last night,
The pansies, sleeping in their beds,
Tore ragged with its might!
In grief I saw my garden fair
Reduced to shreds and snarls;
All the dear flowers I’d planted there
Through many toiling hours
Were only now small, muddy smears
Upon the soggy soil;
It seemed the labor I had spent
Was merely wasted toil.
And yet, as sunlight bright shines down
Through heaven’s now clear sky,
Something in the pansies tell me
They refuse to die.
Though beaten down among the clods
Of darkly sodden earth,
They bravely raise their weary heads
To joy in a new birth.
Lord! Let me more like pansies be
When trouble weighs me down,
To ever lift my face to you…
The Sonlight who came down!
“Again Jesus spoke to them saying,
‘I am the light of the world. Whoever
Follows me will not walk in darkness
But will have the light of life.’” John 8:12 (ESV)
